Today, we are excited to talk to you about something silly. We know this current trend of stories about the spoilt villainess character in otome games is a reach for pretty much anyone with any familiarity with the genre, but isn't the idea charming? We are not immune to the influence of trends and fads, and with a little bit of goading from our dear friend, Rei, the end result became This Red-Haired Villainess Is Actually Surprisingly Pure at Heart!
Arrested by cosplayers!!?! Abruptly, Charlotte finds herself in the middle of a video game she only faintly recalls from moments during the divorce of her parents—and what's worse, everyone has mistaken her for the spoilt villainess, Countess Marguerite Corvinus de domo Dragwlya! Now, apprehended by Japan's premier protectors, the Imperial Otomegumi, and staving off countless "rescue attempts" by the forces of the Countess on the moon, Charlotte must do her best to not only convince her captors of her innocence but also ensure that no one meets a sticky bad ending—herself included!
Heavily influenced by a great love of Japan's Taisho era, this is a story, like all these stories, about mistaken identities, about feeling like you're going nowhere, about falling in love... and it's about martial arts, because why not?
This Red-Haired Villainess Is Actually Surprisingly Pure at Heart! is available from amazon (ugh), smashwords, lulu, and our brand new store front at itch.io, and as a patreon reward!
You'll like it! We promise! As added incentive, because of the vast amount of art that Rei did, both the lulu version and the patreon version feature alternate covers. Alas, our finances did not extend to holographic or foil variants! :p
Having just celebrated our sixth anniversary at patreon, we have been going all out these last few months with the release of a new ebook, Kapsule Kids! just for subscribers! We also re-released one of our old fanzines in honour of the absurdity of fanfiction.net, weighed in on the anniversary of 19th century poet John Clare's birth, and considered the lives of kaijin after invasion.
Phew! If you wanted convincing to join us on patreon, how does that suit you?
